ORIGINAL IPs

Here at Puppetworks, we see the process of creating Original IPs as something that goes beyond the power of our software. We plant the seeds of our ideas in the endless fields of creativity. Taking care of each Original IP, we nourish them with imaginative care and attention to detail. Through the magic of the motion pictures, we harvest our dreams as our projects.

With over a decade long experience in the field and access to very talented people, we strive to create an original project that not only visually represents our identity on the big screen but inspires the upcoming generation on their path to follow their dreams. By including themes that address both to children and to adults, we make sure to have our ideas spread across a wide range of audience. Whether that may be through services we provide in making cinematic game trailers or through our Original In-house Projects.

There are countless numbers of animation films produced each year and another countless amount of series. When the competition is this stiff, one might happen to wonder why anyone would want to enter the industry. But the answer is obvious and is seen across the industry: passion.

Based in Budapest, we are on a roll to produce more than ever.

floki

Introducing Floki, a pint-sized pup with boundless personality and aspirations as vast as the sky itself! He dreams of emulating the legendary Captain, a Doberman known for his imposing stature, sagacious wisdom, and an extraordinary ability to serenade the moon with melodies so enchanting that even humans can’t help but join in (albeit with enthusiastic shouting).

Seems straightforward, doesn’t it? Floki certainly thinks so – all he needs is to reach that lofty goal. Yet, his path is often fraught with challenges, each more whimsical than the last: from a hedgehog struggling to manage its prickly exterior, to a wandering butterfly, a sightless mole, or a mischievous raccoon.

Amidst suburban landscapes teeming with marvels and oddities – bustling buses, towering construction sites, and topsy-turvy trash cans – Floki embarks on a quest in each episode to mirror the Captain’s prowess. Yet, what he ultimately discovers is something far more profound: himself.

Series Concept

Step into the vibrant world of 2D animation with Floki, a preschool series that delves into the nuances of parent-child relationships and the journey of self-discovery in the midst of suburban life. With plenty of playful howls, spirited barks, and a touch of canine curiosity, Floki promises to entertain and enlighten audiences aged 2 to 6.

THE TALE OF MOMONGA

Momonga, ah, Momonga. You know those projects you have worked on forever but never seem to be able to bring it all together. This was Momonga for us. We’ve spent and continue to spend a fair amount of our energies making this story come to life. It is a long and arduous process but the dedication behind the project is unwavering.

Puppetworks is developing its own ideas into transmedia concepts focusing on the family genre. One of these concepts is The Tale of Momonga, with a movie in the pre-production and funding stage. Concept At its heart, the Tale of Momonga is a colourful and exciting family adventure about bravery, friendship and acceptance. The hero, handicapped at birth, seeks out magic to rectify his deficiency but the magic he unleashes threatens the very existence of his village and the whole island. Our hero needs to trust himself and those he loves to find his inner strength and prevent a disaster.

ANOTHER DAY OF LIFE

Another Day of Life, directed by Polish animation director Damian Nenow and Spanish film director Raul de la Fuente, is a hybrid live-action/stylized animation film based on Ryszard Kapuściński’s book of the same name. The book and film chronicle the graphic, harrowing and near-hallucinatory experiences during the first months of the Angolan civil war in 1975 that drove Polish war correspondent Ryszard Kapuściński to write the book that forged his literary reputation. The animation-live action hybrid is a mix of animation, live-action cutaways, archive footage and contemporary interviews.

Jointly co-produced with studios in Poland, Spain, Belgium and Germany, Puppetworks provided a significant part of concept art, sculpting, environment models, main and background character models, layout, and a major part of the animation. The animation was based on motion capture, but major animation work was required to reach the final result. Our main task was to do MOCAP based animation sequences (re-targeting MOCAP data onto character rigs, adjusting them in time and 3D position to match action rhythm and space). And keyframe animation details such as hands, fingers and prop animations. Facial animations for dialogues and facial expressions as well as animations for cars and trucks.
