Final Fantasy XV: Kingsglaive

Made with SQUARE ENIX

Final Fantasy XV: Kingsglaive is a feature-length animated film produced by Square Enix and directed by Takeshi Nozue. Puppetworks was tasked to produce several CGI scenes.

The film forms part of the "Final Fantasy XV" universe, a multimedia project based around the 2016 video game Final Fantasy XV. While Final Fantasy XV tells the story of Noctis's journey, Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV depicts the events that take place in Lucis during the prince's absence. The members of the eponymous Kingsglaive serve as the film's main characters. Together, they comprise an elite team of royal guards tasked with protecting King Regis, the crown city Insomnia, and the kingdom of Lucis. The film stars the voice talents of Aaron Paul (Nyx Ulric), Sean Bean (Regis Lucis Caelum) and Lena Headey (Lunafreya Nox Fleuret). The title refers to the Kingsglaive, an elite combat corps who share Regis's magical powers and defend the kingdom of Lucis and its Crystal from the invading empire of Niflheim.

Puppetworks was involved with delivering 13 mins/433 shots of photo-realistic quality CGI feature film from Previs to final compositing. This entailed animation, render, and composite. The 7-month schedule was incredibly tight (some even said impossible) but we managed to finish the project on time. At the height of the project, the crew consisted of 140 artists from many different countries including Belgium, France, Germany, Romania, Russia, Serbia and Slovakia.
